One month

I just came from food shopping. Spent 13 bucks for a whole day of food. I eat like that now. I buy a whole cooked chicken(not every week) a bag of salad on sale,a lemon,tomato ,a green pepper ,a yam and a onion. I still have an avocado left. Thats breakfast ,lunch , dinner and a snack. I will bring the chicken to work to put in the cooler. Tomorrow morning I pick it up and its going into my electric cooler. Charging my house battery up tonight and then will put it in my cooler. Thats something new. Going to see how long my cooler lasts on a full charge. I am sure I won't eat all of it by tomorrow so I have for next day. I get very bored eating the same foods ....so spices are my best friend!! I love spices. I especially love the mixed ones ...2 for the palate...yummy!
Has it really been that long? One whole month. It feels like like a whole different dimension. Still haven't really clicked to the whole idea yet. My van has changed at least 4 times already inside but its getting close. Got rid of the desk...it was just too cumbersome. Instead I went looking for a folding table. Like the wooden ones we know and love . I bought instead one that was just a bit larger and plastic. Its sturdy and has multiple leg lengths. And I can still hang it up when I need to. Also I made a deal with a friend/customer when its very humid at night I can connect to her land line with my AC for 10 bucks a night. So far I haven't need to use it. I really am dieing to test that AC out...so of course we have cool weather every night so far! Wait....thats a good thing!
There is more good things.....and thats for next time.

Just a little undate.....

Been so long since I have been here. So many things have changed. Some for good and some well I don't know yet. Been having weepy days as the changes tend to overwhelm me.
My van still is my home and has been for about 2 weeks now and the adjustment is half /half. Some days go well some days I cry from frustration.
My food has been terrible as I have not adjusted to it yet. Having pizza for dinner tonight yet lunch was a healthy salad. Trying to eat more"in" but having a little frig is a little more difficult than I thought. I am working some things out at work so I bring my food over there. I shop every few days and use ALL that I have before I buy more.
Good side is that I joined a gym and work out 4 days a week and use that shower. I tend to go to a lot of parks and walk and sit with the ducks at the water. I see more nature than before and that is lovely.
I get distracted at work a lot and that is because I work on commission. So that basically means I can get by on less and so its a challenge just staying motivated.
I am hoping to show some pictures soon of the van. I am changing curtains so it will have to wait.

A headache

Sometime on Tuesday I must have banged my head somewhere in the van. Or maybe not. I have no idea where I banged it but last  night was torture as I couldn't move my head up. It was to painful. Now in order to save a few bucks I drove 4 to 5 blocks to the grocery store to buy pain relievers as I was stone empty of them. I actually haven't used them in about 6 months time.  I could have taken a cab...but nah I am to cheap!! I managed to get there and back in one piece. I took 4 Advils!  Hey it was VERY painful.

I should have taken a picture of what I saw this morning. But that wasn't happening after last night. These cute little birds swarmed to my window to say good morning. In reality they were eating the dry cat food that I put out last night. They do this quite a lot. Free entertainment for the feral Mr Kitty.


So since I slept like a log last night decided to do a little something to the van.

Pictures are a little dark I know,its snowing and cloudy here in New York.

 There is a old TV and VCR behind this beautiful paneling. I am left with all these wires. I could put the paneling back on and use it as I planned ...a small little kitchen area. Just to hold all kitchen items. Even the stove. A portable 2 burner. Might work .....watch for future remodeling.

Got me a van!!! Yeah!!!

An older e150 ford conversion that runs so sweet. Which the inside was sweet as well but it needs a MAJOR cleaning. The body is great too...no accidents!!







Look at that rug!!!! Its going to
need the green clean machine I am sure. If not I will have to chuck it. I am going to cover it anyways with new carpet.

The New Year

Wow a whole year is gone can it really be?. Its been a good year for me. Sure I had some downers but mostly I had uppers. Starting with making new wonderful friends here on the blogs and from FB. I've met a few FB friends face to face and its wonderful,I mean we became friends because we had things in common so whats not to like.
The storm Irene from last year opened my eyes to what I could do with my life when I found the cheaprvliving.com forum online.
I learned to budget much better which has always been a thorn on my side. My diet has been improving I exercise more. It seems to me when you make New Years resolution that it has to be the WHOLE year to adjust to it. Doesn't that make sense? So this year it will be the van. I want to get more involved with some charities not sure what I can do to help them but I will keep my eyes open for suggestions.
I have also started writing again. Not just here but I have been writing a few short stories. I am rusty because it has been a few years but the more I write the better it comes. Its the creative part thats more important. Thats why we have editors! Would be lovely to write a novella about one of my ideas. Maybe not this year but to get most of it done. Its a start.

Saving and a doggie goes to the rainbow bridge

My job asked me to work another day each week. That means 6 days a week.  We get paid a little different than most and that is daily instead of each week or every 2 weeks. So I said yes but also I told my manager this can not be permanent. At one point 6 days a week is going to run me down. The only reason I agreed to this was....yes to get my van sooner. All money I make on that day goes STRAIGHT to the van. Win win for me!!

 On a sad note....

My landlady is the nicest person....out of all the rentals I have had she is the only one I can call a friend. So with heart breaking news she told all of us on FB that her dear sweet doggie Princess has past away. I cried all morning. Walking to the train station is a time for reflection for me. I love it. I talk to god and I am thankful for that morning and life is good. But that morning I cried all the way. Princess was always out on the stoop when I came home from work. I always said hello and got a nuzzle in,she like when I kissed her nose LOL. I already feel the emptiness when I got home home yesterday and yes again got all teary. RIP little doggie....and mama loves you and hope you will be waiting for her.

Almost doesn't count

This the van I tried to get >>>>>> Oh a van! I almost had it. When my job decided to change the way they pay us and of course a lower salary(but not by much)I got insecure and delayed offering a price on it. Now 2 people are egging for it and I am sure(but NOT totally sure)I won't get it. I will find out Monday. The bitchy part about this is that I LIKE it!!!! The body is nice and roomy. Some things have to be done to it like a tune up ,brake pads and etc. But the motor runs smooth and no leaks. Hope!!

A little quiet here

This week some things of NO interest have happened. We lost a co worker or really he got switch to another part of the business. Another one got fired so we were pretty busy. Kept me from being the bitchy girl everyone knows and love around here. I'm joking of course not everyone loves me. LOL. No I am not depress just like to remind myself I am not in charge here!!

So my van life or should I say NOT van life? I joined another van forum which just started up. Maureen from www.livinginmyvan.com has started a new van forum. Its new and fresh and would love new members!! Join here.

I am still saving and looking. Its not easy because what I want is a bit more money than what I have. But I will get there. I WILL find my home on wheels. 

So on another matter how is Sandy the terrible treating you? We just got started with her. Windy but no rain yet ... that's for tomorrow. We can wait Sandy. Maybe lose some steam? Hope so!! Be safe everyone. Please be safe. 

A little bit of my life

Today is a nice warm 60 something and would be better with the sun out and breeze gone. It also would have been nice if the car I use for work went into gear like its suppose to. I tried rolling the wheel left and right ,made sure the parking brake wasn't engaged *sigh* nothing. So I work in the car service business right now and people do need to get where they want. They could walk,be a lot cheaper but that ain't happening today.  I had 5 houses to pick up and there was no other driver in town. Well guess what folks time will have to be waiting! I can't carry you on my shoulders(I ain't that strong) LOL. Another co worker almost took the bloody steering wheel off but hey he fixed it! I now can drive for the next 10 hours. Should I thank him or not?

I bought a bicycle engine last week. I have NO way of getting around and nice weather coming I don't want to be holed up or start taking expensive taxis! It will get 150 miles on a 1tank of gas. HMMM I'll believe it went I try it. I almost have it set up. I only cursed a few times(believe what you want) and some parts need to be adjusted but by the end of this week...watch out here I come!

Van living has been put on hold for a while. Im hoping to be out on the road by the end of summer. Fingers crossed. Not that Im not doing anything to prepare. Lots of blog reading helps! Let see I bought a cool2 fan(and will buy another)a stove, a heater, furniture Im hoping to put in(very little)and other odds and ends....like a comforter and a 20 degree below sleeping bag. My pets (rodent darlings) will be coming with me if they are still here. They are old now so I don't know how much longer the little guys will be around. I hope VERY long but thats dreaming away there.
Anyway thats it in a nutshell. Have a great week and keep the chin up.....Fridays only 3 days away. ;)

Virus overboard

I am sick. Have been sick now for 4 days.  I'm sleeping all day and my stomach is nauseous. A creepy little bug made its way into me.  I went all the way to work today and realized there is no way I could function. I was doubled over because I had been throwing up so my stomach hurts. I was dizzy. So off I went on the train to go back home. Hey at least I tried. I feel a little better after sleeping all morning. I had a yogurt and its staying down. I don't remember ever being this sick for 4 days. Except for a cold. When I went to work (or tried)my supervisor said other people at work had been sick also...with the bug. So thats my life right now.LOL On the good side my pets are VERY happy to see me home. What company they give me. Small furry bodies are not bad. Like a hot water bottle.

Labeling stuff and etc. how exciting.

 Today is my 1st new day off. I work 62 hours and slowly Ive been burning out. Its like the train roaring down the tracks. First you hear the slight sounds of a rumble somewhere far away. You see lights but not sure if they belong to a car or train yet. Then the lights are brighter as the train rambles down, the ground may also tremble a bit if they are elevated tracks. Then of course the train is upon you with full lights and if its not stopping you hear the loud roar of its horn. Well that explains how my job life has been going . So I asked for 4 days instead of 5. Mine you of course Im still working almost 48 to 50 hrs. LOL. So since I can't really do anything to my new life until I get the van I certainly can do stuff that will be put in the van. So today I rode my bike to town to the wonderful Dollar Tree to get containers and start labeling stuff.

I even put smaller ones with the chargers for batteries that are charged and not. My concern is the place being smaller(and thats not by much!)than my apt that I won't be able to find things. Im not going crazy with this just being practicable. I noticed something also living in a bigger place you buy double because you lose things and also you forget the things you don't really need and it just sits there taking up room. I threw out 2 bags of stuff that I had no need for and Im sure nobody else does either.

On the fun side its raining here ...lightly. I rode my bike taking my time heck its my 1st new day of freedom. I rode to the library and got some DVDs to rent. I had lunch at home. Small cheese pizza which I picked up at
the Dollar tree and watched a movie. Took a nap and then did the labeling stuff. I still have the evening. Loving my 1st day off.
