A house is not a home unless it contains food and fire for the mind,as well as the body.

Food is better this way....follow

Like most of us in this century we have been spoiled of our riches and one of them is our appliances. I am guilty as well. When was the last time you enjoyed a dinner not being helped by the the MICROWAVE.

In my preparation of living in a smaller place and without all the wordly things I've gotten use to I made dinner tonight without using "extras". I wasn't sure how this would pan out because I'm used to throwing a yam, and chicken in the mic first to hasting the cooking time. I've learned 2 things tonight. One it really didn't take so much more time ,maybe 15 minutes more? Not much more is worth repeating here. Two...food tastes 110% better!! Gee Ive forgotten how good a yam can taste. Sweet enough that I didn't have to add a tub of butter to it. The skin fell off it was so moist. YUM!!!

This oven will be coming with me. I may not use it that much. But I can cook a whole chicken in it and that will be lunch and dinner for a few days. A few simple things and cooking should be fun again. Oh a tip I learned. If your cooking....do it by a diner or a deli cause your food when its cooking will trick people in thinking the diner is cooking it. Cook it near Walmart and people might get a little suspicious. Ya Know?

I couldn't wait to post this LOL yeah I know...nothing else better to do.

Thanks for looking!!

  1. My microwave is essential for popcorn. lol But I really don't use it for much else. We grill a lot.

  2. Ah grilling. Hard to when you want to be stealth. Which I could do that ALL the time.

  3. I've lived without a microwave for over 2.5 years now. My apt didn't come with one and I'd given mine away. Oddly enough my travel trailer has one, but I never use it.

  4. You won't miss it much once you get out of the habit, just like missing a TV, first little bit is noticable, then not at all.

Now your food is being prepared the way it was meant to be.....nuking it can't be good for you!

    1. Your so right Tammy!! The yam are cooked before were terrible. I have been using the nuking machine so long didn't realize how awful the food was.

  5. Good to hear about your cooking decisions, Michelle. Is that box a solar oven or electric? Yeah, I am experiencing that right now... cramped space and limited kitchen abilities. I still have use of my small toaster oven, an electric griddle and my rice cooker. I don't miss having a TV at all. Last time I saw TV was when I watched my brother's house while the whole family was away. It was like a shock to my system to be exposed to commercials again after so long not seeing any...
Great tip on cooking near a diner. I must remember that. Take care!

  6. That oven is what you put on top of a double camping stove. Adjust the flame on the stove to cook in the oven. It has a temp. gauge on the outside to check it. Whats good about it that I can store things in it when not using it. I hear you on the TV I dont watch it now, I really dont miss it at all. Nice to hear from you again Rod ,take care. :)
